Additional information

This paper describes the first approximate but accurate formulae for calculating the characteristic impedance of integrated circuit transmission media for sensors, imaging, security and telecommunications applications. The formulae show excellent agreement with simulations using costly software and measurements, making it a viable option for analysis in an industrial environment. This work was motivated by the growing global demand for RF wireless communications with higher levels of integration and functionality. The paper result in invited talks at the prestigious European Conferences, Microwave Integrated Circuits Conference, Manchester, 2011 (http://www.eumweek.com/2011/default.asp) and the 34th Progress in Electromagnetics Research Symposium (PIERS), Stockholm, 2013 (http://piers.org/piers2013Stockholm).
