Additional information

This research explores the development of Brain Computer Interfaces (BCI) in neuro-prosthetics. Using humans, the paper demonstrates for the first time BCIs with 4 degrees of freedom based on imagined movements of the upper limbs only. The BCI algorithm detects differences in brain wave signatures of fine and gross movements of a wrist. The work was funded by EPSRC (GR/T09903/01) and led directly to an invitation to the International Seminar on Neuro-rehabilitation in Aalborg, Denmark (https://smi.hst.aau.dk/fileadmin/files/News/ANRES_2013_Program.pdf), resulting in Dr Vuckovic being elected to the scientific committee of The International Conference on Neuro-rehabilitation (contact Dr Winnie Jensen, wj@hst.aau.dk).
