Additional information

This research was part of a feasibility study originally motivated by work undertaken with Jaguar Land Rover to develop robust observers for on-board control systems. Systems on vehicles experience variable time delays and rates of change of delays due to the CAN-operating system. On-board control requires system states to be estimated online. The aim was to develop a common on-board state estimator for all chassis control systems, with robustness being an overriding factor. A feed-forward compensation input stabilizes the estimation error system, and global stability of a sliding mode is proven.
