Analysis of a continuum-based beam element in the framework of explicit-FEM
This research, in collaboration with Swansea University (a.j.gil@swansea.ac.uk) proposes for the first time a new finite element for solving structural analysis problems. This element has the capacity of contracting/expanding as required for the analysis, which remedies previous technical problems that caused inaccurate data readings. This work now provides engineers with a novel numerical feature to solve large scale problems dealing with structures. For instance, this element was integrated within finite element software at CIMNE (International Centre for Numerical Methods in Engineering, Barcelona, Spain. jose.munoz@upc.edu). The element can be applied in other disciplines such as Civil Engineering or Bioengineering.
