Keith Harrison was Ceramics Resident at the V&A from October 2012 to March 2013. His ‘Disruption’ series was developed during his residency at the Museum through installations and performances. These were temporarily sited and enacted in various venues throughout the Museum and took the form of a succession of short, experimental ‘shocks’ or interventions within the structure of the institution. They were intended as a riposte to the “lunchtime recital”.

Disruption 1: 'Lucie Rie v grindcore', in the Ceramics Galleries in November 2012, was a sound installation and performance, which turned the studio potterʼs wheels into turntables. Edited video documentation was posted on the Museum website. The piece was later performed as part of the CHS lecture series ʻOn Performance', with Turner Prize winner Mark Leckey, at the RCA in February 2013. Disruption 2: 'Circulation' Lydia and Manfred in the Gorvy Lecture Theatre, December 2012, was a sound installation and performance inspired by the Circulation Department at the V&A. Video documentation was posted on the V&A Museum website and documentation of event added to the permanent Ceramics collection. The piece was also performed as part of the RCA 'On Performance' lecture series. Disruption 3: 'Moon' in the Hochhauser Auditorium, Sackler Centre, February - March 2013 was a clay installation and performance recreating Keith Moon's ʻPatent Exploding Drum Kitʼ. This work was recorded and archived as part of the V&A Theatre & Performance collection. There was a re- and post-performance display of 'Moon' in the Theatre and Performance Galleries alongside footage of the performance and objects from the permanent V&A collection relating to The Who. Disruption 4: 'Bustleholme: Keith Harrison & Napalm Death' was originally planned for the European Galleries, March 2013 but was postponed by the V&A.
