Additional information

The research led to industrial funding from Samsung (GBP150k, RG60680, 01-Apr-2011). Jong Min Kim (ID_in_audit_file@samsung.com) saw it as "a vital technological development in the realisation of truly 3D holographic displays". It resulted in invited papers at international conferences SPIE Photonics West 2010, ILCC2010, FLC2011, IET2011 and BLCS2012. The work led to the award of the 2010 ILCS Mid-Career Prize to Wilkinson. The research reported in this paper led to much further research in hybrid liquid crystal/CNT devices, including over 27 papers from Wilkinson's group and the PhDs of Dai and Butt who were subsequently successful in Research Fellowship competitions in 2012.
