Stator-Flux-Oriented Vector Control for Brushless Doubly Fed Induction Generator
The control methods reported in this paper form part of the core technology of the spin-out company Wind Technologies Ltd (registration number 6014164), formed to exploit medium-speed drive-trains for wind turbines using the brushless doubly-fed induction generator (contact Ehsan Abdi, ID_in_audit_file@windtechnologies.com). The company has received grants and investment totalling over GBP3.4M, and the approach has been rated the 2nd most innovative turbine technology of 2012 by the industry publication ‘Windpower Monthly ‘ magazine (January 2013 issue). In addition, Texas Instruments has provided research funding of GBP142k (RG60590, start date 1 August 2010) for research on sensorless control methods.
