Stall Warning by Blade Pressure Signature Analysis
The conference version of this ASME paper won a Turbomachinery Committee Award (June 2012), as well as a Rolls-Royce Best PhD Paper prize. On the basis of this work, Young was awarded the Maudslay-Butler Research Fellowship at Pembroke College - a three-year, stipendiary post. The work in this paper also led to multiple follow-on projects including computational work in the Whittle Laboratory, culminating in collaboration with Profs Greitzer (ID_in_audit_file@mit.edu) and Spakovzsky (ID_in_audit_file@mit.edu) at MIT, which won the same ASME prize, 2013. Based on this paper, Rolls-Royce are considering the business case for patenting an engine health monitoring system (ID_in_audit_file@Rolls-Royce.com).
