High CO2 solubility in ionic liquids and a tetraalkylammonium-based poly(ionic liquid)
Poly(ionic liquid)s for enhanced CO2 capture, an area of increasing technological and global economic importance. A high throughput screening method using a few mg of material through to bench scale studies. Capture-release kinetics as well as selectivity-activity correlations against molecular structure. This paper is important as it shows a huge increase in absorption ability through task-specific molecular design. Represents a new way of thinking for carbon capture with implications for advanced capture techniques. Part of the work that underpinned the funding of the 4CU Programme Grant and FP7 SCOT funding (more than €10M combined). Led to several Pleanries and Keynotes.
