Modelling stress-strain and volume change behaviour of unsaturated soils using an evolutionary based data mining technique, an incremental approach
Constitutive modelling of unsaturated soils has been subject to many research works in the past few decades. Developing transparent and structured constitutive models could be considered a turning point in understanding the very high level of complexities in hydro-mechanical behaviour of unsaturated soils. A number of constitutive models have been developed to describe this complicated behaviour, many proven to be unable to predict all associated aspects in a unified manner. The results of this research work showed that the proposed approach in this paper is capable of providing an accurate and robust framework for modelling the behaviour of unsaturated soils.
