Additional information

<6>This work revisits the previous mental model of the Internet, by revealing a rich ecosystem at this Internet Exchange Point as well as 25% more network interconnections to the known Internet. From our observations, we predict that the Internet has actually at least twice as many network interconnections than previously thought. The other reason why this work has impact lies in the fundamental part that IXPs have become of the rich Internet connectivity fabric. IXPs now provide a convenient and cheap way to bypass large ISPs, allowing large content delivery players (e.g., Google) to connect to residential networks.
