A non-free-space propagation x-ray phase contrast imaging method sensitive to phase effects in two directions simultaneously
All phase contrast methods involving optical elements are sensitive to phase in one direction only, leading to either incomplete delineation or missing out of image features. This letter demonstrates the first example of 2D sensitivity, via a different implementation of the method I invented. It was rapidly picked up by other research groups (from the ESRF (PRL 105, 248102), the Czech Academy of Science (JINST 6, C01073) and commercial companies like Canon (Opt Lett 36, 3551). Due to potentially wider interest the paper was selected for reissue by the Virtual Journal of Biological Physics Research (Vol 17, Issue 3, 2009)
