Additional information

This paper proposes an innovative approach for the development of energy model optimisation models, allowing the automatic translation of policy goals (quantitative or qualitative) into mathematical constraints to be included in the optimisation model. The approach opens up the following two advantages: (a) a dramatic shortening of the cycle time (development/execution/analysis) of predictive mathematical models that test the impact of policy goals, (b) lowering of the “entry level” for the use of energy models, thus rendering them directly accessible to policy makers (without the intervention of modellers). An abridged version was presented in SWEDES’11 and was awarded Best Conference Paper.
