The gait recognition method was adapted into a near real-time system for a Defence Science and Technology Laboratory (DSTL) funded project (Contract No: DSTLX1000062863, Contact: Ros Mitchell, Email: RPMITCHELL@mail.dstl.gov.uk, Commercial Services Department, Building 5, Room G02, DSTL Porton Down, Salisbury, SP4 0JQ). The adapted method is not only fast but is also capable of operating under adverse conditions, e.g., varying background environment, varying illumination levels and moving shadows.
