Additional information

This paper explores adaptive control of dc-dc converters. It considers low cost switch mode power supply applications where cheap solutions are essential for high volume production. The paper investigates computationally efficient control algorithms which can readily be implemented on low cost microprocessor hardware. A novel approach is taken to developing a control scheme using algorithms previously only applied in the telecommunication field. Here, they have been applied for the first time to power electronic systems with significant success; an improvement of 22% in computational efficiency is achieved.
