Additional information

This paper presents a new way of solving the spectrum efficiency problem associated with sensor networks deployed for surveillance, tracking and imaging applications. This work is the first to develop a novel solution that incorporates basic elements analogous to the human cognitive system in terms of intelligent signal processing and the preservation of information content. It is important because it is the first to propose a real-time implementation which has been shown to successfully overcome practical limitations associated with conventional techniques. This work has led to an EPSRC funded project (EP/G069042 £116,338) which advances telemedicine informatics in the UK.
