Additional information

This paper, awarded a prize by the IEEE IEMDC committee, presents collaborative research with G.E. Energy. This paper contains the most comprehensive assessment of measured and finite-element predictions of lamination loss due to hysteresis and eddy currents in large synchronous machines. An efficient, accurate formulation is embedded in finite element design programmes and compared with many test results on large generators. This has been adopted by G.E. Energy for its main design process. (Philip Hargreaves, G.E. Energy tel: 01788564137).
