Additional information

The author made a substantial contribution to the acquisition of the data and the analysis and interpretation of it. He spent 10 days at Stanford, California, participating in the experiment, acquiring data and solving various experimental problems. His expertise in constructing and operating time-of-flight spectrometers was particularly useful in that context. After the experiment he participated in discussions concerning the data analysis, in particular of methods of separating signatures of molecular dynamics from instrumental artefacts.
