CFD simulations of segregating fluidized bidisperse mixtures of particles differing in size
This work analyses, using an Eulerian multiphase model solved through Computational Fluid Dynamics, the behaviour of segregating fluidized bidisperse mixtures. Aiding to find the correct operating conditions to promote (as in classifiers) or prevent (as in most fluid bed reactors) segregation, this work should assist to design, operate and analyse fluidized beds, particularly tapered fluidized-bed classifiers, where the unit shape is used to promote segregation. In collaboration with the University of Naples, this work has led to a new joint research project with the latter and a collaboration with the University of Genoa.
