Additional information

The article discloses a novel new testing approach for measuring the thermo-mechanical property and/or studying phase transformation behaviour of various alloys. This new testing approach led to precise measurements of material thermo-mechanical properties which were not previously possible. It is also being considered for studying the effect of residual stress on hydrogen induced cracking by the Electric Power Research Institute, EPRI-USA (Ref: John Siefert, Senior Project Engineer: jsiefert@epri.com) and used to assess the effect of tri-axial stress on creep-induced cracking at The Open University (Ref: project EP/G068305/1).
