A unified manufacturing resource model for representation of computerized numerically controlled machine tools
This paper highlights need and associated industrial benefits of standardising manufacturing resource information in the supply-chain and proposes ISO-10303 compliant data-model to represent manufacturing resources. While working on this research project (Universal Manufacturing Platform), funded by EPSRC (EPSRC IdMRC £674k, UK Industry £220k), authors became member of ISO-TC184SC1Wg7 (ISO-14649). Developed data-model was proposed in the ISO-TC184SC1Wg7 meetings and became part of New-Work-Item-Proposal: Machine tool data-model for general manufacturing processes’, known as Part-200 of the STEP-NC standard. This research has contributed in Dematerialised Manufacturing Systems (DEMAT), an EU-FP7 programme (no 246020-2) with funding of €184k for Bath's involvement.
