This is a co-edited volume which was fully collaborative in conception, with contributors invited to suggest texts for inclusion, to participate in a workshop, and to cross-reference chapters. Both editors contributed equally to editorial work. Marven is the sole author of the introduction (pp. 1-16) and chapter 1 (pp. 17-31), as well as the sole compiler of the index. The book was included on the January 2013 list of Outstanding Academic Titles published by the American Library Association's review 'Choice'. The list comprises just 9% of titles reviewed by 'Choice' in 2012.
