Double-weighted statement

At 105,000 words (248 pages), this single-authored monograph is the final publication of a substantial project. It represents 70% of available research time over 2.5 years whilst the author held a Research Fellowship at the University of Cambridge, and 40% of available research time during the first year of her Lectureship. As such, the monograph merits double weighting. The book brings together scholarship in three distinct areas. It offers a detailed reconsideration of textual material in the light of new theoretical frameworks, simultaneously integrating literary and archaeological evidence. It therefore required both breadth and depth of research in considerable amounts.
