Double-weighted statement

This book develops an innovative and thorough-going critique of Balthasar, who was an enormously prolific writer. The innovative dimension of the critique is that it does not focus on any one theme or text in Balthasar’s oeuvre, but seeks to make clear a performative contradiction that marks nearly the whole of his work. This has been both a complex argument to develop, and one that required attention to the whole range of his publications.
