Additional information

This manuscript represents the first joint publication between the Christie and Setlow groups, leading directly to on-going collaborative research that has resulted in further higher-impact publications. These include work that attempted to characterise functional relationships between different proteins involved in peptidoglycan hydrolysis during spore germination (Journal of Bacteriology 195(11): 2530-2540), and research that revealed a novel protein component of the Bacillus spore germinant receptor (Journal of Bacteriology 195(13): 3009-3021).
