Additional information

The sensor concept is enabled by our fundamental discovery that protein amyloids develop size specific energy states on aggregation (Chan et al., Analyst 138 (7),(2013). It enabled applied research in disease (e.g. Murakami Hum. Mol. Genet., 21(1),(2012), Chakrabortee et al., PNAS,107(37),(2010)). It led to grant support (as PI) from Elan Pharmaceuticals (RG63781 – contact Dr. Matthams), the MRC (G0902243 & MR/K02292X/1), the BBSRC (BB/H023917/1), and AlzheimerResearchUK (ESG2012-1 & PG2013-14). The method is widely used by members of the WT/MRC funded neurodegenerative disease consortium in projects on Tau (Alzheimer’s) and alpha-synuclein (Parkinson’s) (contact Prof. StGeorge Hyslop).
