Additional information

MC-1: CdSe quantum dot structures are widely used in photovoltaic devices. This paper reports cutting-edge experimental measurements undertaken at the University of Melbourne (mulvaney@unimelb.edu.au) of the size-dependent absorption properties of CdSe quantum dots, with experiments showing exceptionally good agreement with state-of-the-art atomistic calculations performed at Leeds. These results are, by far, the most accurate estimates ever achieved, and this has enabled re-definition of the calibration curves used in predicting extinction coefficients and absorption energies for CdSe nanocrystals of differing size. These calibration curves are widely cited, and have already become the standard used in the research field.
