Media and the city: cosmopolitanism and difference
This book makes a distinct conceptual contribution to understanding media and the city through their mutual constitution, contributing to research agendas across several disciplines – primarily but not exclusively media and communications, sociology and urban geography. The author presents a framework studying the close relationship between media and the city, systematically analysing a range of consequences for identity and citizenship. The book synthesises multidisciplinary insights with extensive original empirical research. Empirical research was conducted primarily in London over more than three years and was complemented by additional research conducted in other European and North American cities between 2008 and 2013.
