<15> This paper defines the elusive notion of information content of data, and presents and proves a set of rules for reasoning about it in a database. The work is the result of international collaboration with BUU China and was published in a prestigious journal. The work secured funding for three now completed projects from the Carnegie Trust for Universities of Scotland in 2009 (to Feng), Beijing Municipal Party Committee Organization Department China and Beijing Municipal Commission of Education China (to Xu and Feng) respectively. This research is the basis of further work presented in conferences ICISO 2009 and CEA 2009.
