Computer modelling of trivalent metal dopants in lithium niobate
This work describes the modelling of doped lithium niobate, which is a material of great technological importance, with applications ranging from those that exploit its elastic to its photorefractive properties. The information gained from this study is being used to aid synthesis of doped lithium niobate for use in devices. The work arose from an initial collaboration with the Hungarian Academy of Sciences (Dr. L. Kovacs/Dr. K. Lengyel) and more recently with Dr. M. Valerio at the Federal University of Sergipe, Brazil and led to an invitation to talk at the International Workshop on Stoichiometric Lithium Niobate in Germany (Sep 2013).
