This paper shows why high angle of attack data for horizontal axis wind turbines us useful as energy energy yield can be increased by up to 40% by careful matching of the load type and aerodynamic design of the turbine. Originally presented at the ASME Turbo-Expo Conference and was one of a small percentage (less than 20%) of the papers selected for journal publication.
