A Historical Guide to NGOs in Britain : Charities, Civil Society and the Voluntary Sector since 1945
The book is one part of a larger output of data collected through large research grants from AHRC (2005-6) and Leverhulme Trust (2008-11). Hilton and Crowson led the investigation, wrote most of the text, while data was collected by RAs, Mouhot and McKay. The book is the hard copy of a larger electronic submission that should be read as a whole: (a) www.dango.bham.ac.uk<http://www.dango.bham.ac.uk/<http://www.dango.bham.ac.uk%3chttp:/www.dango.bham.ac.uk/>> - 750,000 word database providing archival details on further 2,000 organisations; b) www.ngo.bham.ac.uk<http://www.ngo.bham.ac.uk/<http://www.ngo.bham.ac.uk%3chttp:/www.ngo.bham.ac.uk/>> provides all the raw data for the book in freely available electronic form, along with considerable ‘bonus’ material (http://www.ngo.bham.ac.uk/appendix/NGOs_handbook.htm).
