Additional information

Paper presents advanced design method for reducing energy consumption of buildings. Work has been applied at Buro Happold on an optimisation project for Scottish architect Mactaggart and Mickel to make their range of house types meet energy regulations as cost-effectively as possible. This changed design practice at Buro Happold by setting precedent for bringing optimisation into design process [contact: Project Director - Specialist Consulting, Buro Happold]. First-author Evins won Frazer-Nash Consultancy Best Paper award for work at 2012 Bristol EngD Conference [tinyurl.com/gen-eng-129].
