This paper presents an efficient cross-layer solution to the problem of instability of TCP connections in large ad hoc networks. The research was presented at the highly rated WWIC conference. The novelty of this work lies in the detailed analysis of the intra-flow instability of TCP connection in long chains of network nodes, and the use of this analysis in the new cross-layer design. The paper resulted in the invitation to V Rakocevic to join the EU research COST Actions 290 and WiNEMO (2010-2014) for which V Rakocevic is now the UK representative in the Management Committee.
