<22>The research was carried out within the context of the UK-US military-funded research project International Technology Alliance (ITA, www.usukita.org). It presents a novel knowledge-intensive approach to solving the sensor-mission determination and allocation problems: using standard Semantic Web technologies, we reduce the search-space of the assignment problem, thus providing better solutions in less time. The paper explores a multi-agent context, providing a decentralised solution evaluated in different realistic scenarios. The techniques developed have been showcased to the US Army Research Lab, and UK Defence Science and Technology Laboratory, and have been technology-transitioned (i.e., embedded into software products).
