Additional information

This paper presents experimental measurements and material parameters for the representation of skin in finite element models including its anisotropic and nonlinear behaviour. This allows a realistic representation of skin using widely available software, which has not previously been possible. We have also compared the mechanical properties of human and mouse skin, which is widely used as an experimental model; mouse skin was found to be more similar to human skin than expected. The paper already has several citations since it was published last year; the work has led on to a further PhD project funded by Fujitsu.
