Three-dimensional visualization of dermal skin structure using confocal laser scanning microscopy
This unique paper investigates the utilisation of immersive technology for the assessment of dermal skin sections in a 5-sided viewing cube where the image stack produced from confocal laser microscopy, was assembled and disassembled. This study provides an opportunity to explore the dermis, as well as materials such as scaffolds in detail and so facilitate understanding of cell growth characteristics in a 3-D microstructure, to aid the development of novel tissue-engineering materials. Other applications may include human dermal imaging for dermatological purposes such as biopsies. The paper was viewed 13 times since the beginning of July 2013 (ResearchGate).
