This book is the result of three years of painstaking archival research in both the film archives and the written archives of the major newsreel companies in the UK. The author uncovered and rediscovered an invaluable cache of newsreel items related to political and public events in Ireland between 1912 and 1950, considerably enhancing the historical documents and archive material for future researchers. The analysis of this material broadens the scope of current knowledge of the subject and deepens our understanding of Anglo-Irish relationships.
