Doing gender well and differently in dirty work: the case of exotic dancing
Advances seminal ‘doing gender’ theory. Develops novel coherent theory of ‘doing gender well and differently’ through innovative empirical research from a dirty work (sex work) site. Recently published, influencing the international intellectual agenda with increasing citations e.g. the body in Organisation Studies (2012), women in management in Gender in Management: An International Journal (2012/2013), developing a gender typology in Gender Work and Organisation (2013) and the monograph ‘Gender Capital’ (2012). In disrupting gender binaries the theory has significance in the wider social sciences e.g. The Drama Review (2012), Australasian Marketing Journal (2013) demonstrating potential as an essential point of reference.
