Additional information

This exhibition and its catalogue represent the outcome of the first systematic review of the V&A’s holdings in postwar British design. They proposed a new engagement with historical and museological narratives and a comprehensive treatment of media. Breward co-curated the exhibition with Ghislaine Wood of the V&A, taking a lead on sections relating to popular culture, and fashion. He also led on the editing of the catalogue, contributing four contextual chapters (co-written with Wood) and a single-authored chapter on fashion. The research was supported by a Fellowship at the Yale Centre for British Art and an AHRC Collaborative Doctoral Award.
