Additional information

This is the first study that has demonstrated following electrical stimulation of the brain significant changes/alterations in the normal brain haemodynamic response to functional activation. We used near-infrared spectroscopy to monitor the brain oxygenation and haemodynamic changes in volunteers performing a complicated cognitive task with and without electrical stimulation. We achieved these measurements by using techniques and technologies that I have developed based on near-infrared spectroscopy. I was the person responsible for setting up the near-infrared spectroscopy and developing the analysis techniques. This was part of collaboration that I initiated with University of Oxford.
