Additional information

<29> Published in a special edition of Geographical Analysis, this article developed from a presentation made at the Association of American Geographers Annual Meeting in Seattle 2011, where it was one of ten talks under the topic “Interpolation and Uncertainty in Small-Area Estimates”. It was subsequently recommended for consideration for the special edition and subjected to the usual review process by three independent peers before acceptance. It is believed to be the first publication to quantify the effectiveness of recently released UK public-domain mapping products for spatial interpolation of population characteristics to scales finer than the census base units.
