<29> Paper chosen as one of 5 nominated research outputs (from 122 peer-reviewed papers) considered for independent assessment of Wales Institute of Social and Economic Data and Methods (WISERD) project funded by HEFCW/ESRC. Paper originally presented at the Free and Open Source Software for Geospatial applications (FOSS4G) Conference (Denver, 2011). Ten papers from 150 presentations were selected for a special issue of the journal. Reports on a unique open source solution to the development of a geoportal designed to aid the discovery, analysis and visualisation of social science meta-data and led to a successful bid to ESRC’s Knowledge Exchange programme.
