Additional information

This work achieved the highest data rate recorded using state of the art Reflective Electro-Absorptive Transducer (R-EAT) design for optical/RF networks. The device developed is extremely novel as it is a single device that allows data rates in both directions (to and from the customer), thus reducing system component count. BT has since used this device for high speed optical fibre trials and has proved very successful.
