MR-1: This paper investigates the resources required for implementation of public secure communications over arbitrarily long distances, and introduces protocols by which imperfect devices can be fully exploited. It led to an invited talk at SPIE Photonics West 2009, Razavi’s FP7 Marie-Curie re-integration grant (Ref:277110, PI:Razavi, €100,000), $25,000 of seed money from the Communications Security Establishment (Canada), and a DARPA QUINESS Grant (13-DARPA-1032, PI:Lütkenhaus, $280,000) to develop a scalable platform for agile and extended-reach quantum communications. It also established a new collaboration with MagiQ Technologies (Berzanskis, COO), who (along with ID Quantique) were first to market quantum key distribution systems.
