Additional information

DPS-4: This presents the development of patented (WO2009/016366, priority 31/07/2007), high-performance, electrochemical sensors, comprising microfabricated platinum/mercury electrodes functionalized with self-assembled phospholipid monolayers. This technology was transferred to the Ruder Boskovic Institute, Croatia (blazenka.gasparovic@irb.hr) for evaluation of seawater toxins, supported by a NATO Science for Peace award (CBP.EAP.SFPP.983147, €160k, 2008–2011). On-going work has been funded by: EPSRC EP/G015325 (PI:Nelson, £313,341, with 50% MoD funding (JGS1194)); an FP7 project (Ennsatox NMP4-SL-2009-229244, €3.7M, 2009–2012); and, a Royal Society Brian Mercer feasibility award (MI080073/AM, £70k, 2009–2013). Translation is being pursued by the university commercialization office following initial university spin-out OrganiSense (2008–2011).
