Additional information

JEC-3: Supported by EPSRC critical mass grant (EP/F029543, PI:Cunningham, £1,806,728), this paper reports the high frequency response of two-dimensional electron systems, establishing the influence of short- and long-range impurity potentials for the first time. Results were interpreted in the theoretical context of universal scaling of magneto-conductivity in the quantum Hall regime, leading to the subsequent first investigation of magneto-conductivity scaling as a function of size, frequency and temperature in identical samples. This underpins our programme on terahertz frequency interrogation of discrete quantum systems with UCL, Cambridge, and the London Centre for Nanotechnology, supported by EPSRC Programme Grant (EP/J017671, PI:Seeds, £6,568,979).
