Additional information
The paper describes the use of social cost benefit analysis for calculating the benefits of introducing small-scale water systems. The analysis includes, but goes beyond, benefits to health and incorporates broader social benefits to communities. The model developed here will provide significant benefits to agencies working to provide water to rural communities in developing countries. It provides them with the tools to make informed decisions about different interventions. The model has been developed into a book by the WHO: Valuing Water, Valuing Livelihoods (ISBN: 978 92 4 1564281).
