Additional information

This experimental work focuses on the structural response of concrete beams under both low-rate and impact loading. The aim of the research work was to investigate key aspects of structural behaviour such as crack patterns, strength and failure modes under varying levels of loading rate. For the impact test, a high-speed, high-resolution video camera was used to record the whole test; which proved to be a valuable source of data on the transient features of the impact test. Impact test data on wide beams is scarce and this work has improved our understanding of the structural behaviour of these elements.
