Glassy dynamics of sorbitol solutions at terahertz frequencies
We believe the dielectric beta relaxation, measured here, is directly related to the stability of the glass to crystallisation. This had led to further work and we have just filed a patent on this through Cambridge Enterprise (Christine.Martin@enterprise.cam.ac.uk). We have since used B22 at Diamond synchrotron (contact available) to expand our spectral range which confirmed our initial analysis. This work was presented at Faraday Discussion 167 and Austen Angell from Arizon State University commended us for the work. Publication submitted to PRL. Presentation at IRMMW-THz 2013 lead to new collaboration with free electron laser facility at Radboud University, Netherlands.
